This is an Atlas F Missile Silo complex. Built in 1960's and operational for 3 years during the "Cold War." Site was decommisioned in 1965 and given to the local government. Where it changed hands 3 times before I bought it off of eBay. For the last 4 summers I have begun the clean up of this massive fixer upper. Hope to have a livable historical home in the future.
Bill from the Deep Water Recovery / Cold Water Unit of the Alburg, VT Fire Department took a plunge in the silo. He jumped in at Level 5 and dove down 71 feet to the end of the safety line that was dropped. Visibilty was limited. concenrating on some landscape projects. concrete structure in low area is the old fixture for the main gate entrance. pics again of the underbelly of launch door that will be removed.i have spoken with a tow truck operator and he will come to see if it is possible to drag the door out. also have been working on the north fence line demarcation.
